HOLLYWOOD—It’s the biggest accolade one in the entertainment industry can receive on the TV side of things. Yes, the contenders for the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, July 16, and leading the pack of all nominees was the HBO series “Game of Thrones” with a whopping 32 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series. Look, let’s all be honest, we know that eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” was not its best, but this is the Academy’s way of bidding farewell to the series.

In a distant second place was “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” which earned 20 nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, and right on its tails was “Chernobyl” with 19 nominations. Now, it wouldn’t be an awards ceremony if we didn’t talk about the snubs people. The buzz is what the hell happened to “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” which was completely snubbed for any awards considering the series also bid adieu to TV watchers this year. “Black-ish” failed to earn an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination after being up for the prize each year since 2015.

No love for Julia Roberts for her work on “Homecoming,” and sentiment continues with “The Big Bang Theory” getting little to no love for its final season. Look I’m starting to think if you’re on network TV that is the worst thing when it comes to the TV world and accolades because Cable networks and streaming services are dominating across the board.
