HOLLYWOOD—I love the month of October on soap operas because they place on the puzzle pieces in place to allow them to explode for November sweeps. The ABC soap “General Hospital” is gearing up for what is certain to be an explosive month of storylines in the coming weeks. For starters, a wedding is in the works for Carly (Laura Wright) and Franco (Roger Howarth), there is one tiny problem. Carly has no idea that Franco is about to rip her world apart with the revelation that Sonny (Maurice Benard) killed AJ, and has kept the secret hidden.

This bombshell is certain to rock Michael’s (Chad Duell) world, but once he learns of all the people who betrayed him, it will change everything. Including his relationship with Kiki (Kristen Alderson) who has the weird idea that she is a holy saint; can’t wait to see the look on her face when she discovers that dear old Ava (Maura West) murdered Connie Falconeri! Sonny might be going down, but he won’t be going down alone.

That’s not the only craziness happening in Port Charles, because Nina Clay (Michelle Stafford) has gone off on the deep end. I must say Stafford is excelling to new heights with this juicy role. The acting she displayed with her co-star Donna Mills who portrays Madeline Reeves was stellar. Nina literally flipped when Silas (Michael Easton) confronted her about her duplicity, knocking him out cold.

To make matters worse, she went to the one person she could trust Nathan (Ryan Paevy), but instead came face-to-face with the woman who destroyed her life. Yes, Madeline was literally unnerved by her daughter’s actions and her drive to want to exact vengeance on the woman who is responsible for everything she lost. So what does Madeline do to make amends? She promises to help Nina steal Ava’s unborn child. Yep, looks like Ava is about to a get a dose of what goes around comes around from the people whose lives she has destroyed the most. Karma is a you know what!

Sam (Kelly Monaco), Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Tracy (Jane Elliott) got a shock of a lifetime as they came face-to-face with a cured Jerry Jacks while traveling overseas. It seems Jerry wants a piece of ELQ at all costs, but has laid his cards out their admitting the Luke they know is an imposter. Unfortunately, the audience has not gotten any close to learning just who ‘Fluke’ really is. The bigger question we should be asking ourselves is how Julian (William deVry), Jerry and Fluke are all connected. Who is really the mastermind of this organization and what is their intended end game?

Sam should be focusing her attention on her back from the dead husband Jason (Billy Miller), whose memory is a bit fragmented as he continues to bond with his former lover Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) who is getting quite close to the mystery patient. But what is it going to take for someone in this town to realize the mystery guy is Jason Morgan and not some John Doe? Perhaps if Robin (Kimberly McCullough) makes a surprise visit to PC would be the deciding factor; at the moment she is the only person who truly knows Jason’s identity.

And if you thought all that craziness was too much to handle, the wicked Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) has returned to the canvas with both Franco and Sonny vying for her attention, there is no telling precisely what Heather would do. She does indeed love cooking up her weekend plans, and she’s very culpable of committing murder. Just as her son Steve Webber and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero).

“General Hospital” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. in most markets. In select markets the soap has returned to its original air time which is 3 p.m.
