GRIFFITH PARK—On July 11, a fundraiser will be held at the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round.

The Festival of Children Foundation, a non-profit that seeks to create a supportive network of children’s charities, is hosting the Carousel of Possible Dreams, an event in which community members and leaders will ride the carousel up in a marathon-like fashion, and collect pledges from donors who will sponsor the ride. A report from Business Wire about the event says, “Riders are currently soliciting donations on line, with the promise that they will each complete 50 rotations on the carousel. They will continue to make calls for donations between rotations to meet or exceed their goals.”

Funds raised during this year’s Carousel of Possible Dreams will go to two local arts-oriented organizations: The Art of Elysium, which runs performing and fine arts workshops for critical ill children, and Debbie Allen Dance Academy, a non-profit that empowers youth through dance classes.

The Carousel of Possible Dreams is aiming to raise $94,000 at this year’s Los Angeles event; over $27,000 has been pledged so far. There will be a Chicago event on August 22, and a Disneyland event on November 12.

The event runs from 6-9  p.m. on July 11. Click here to learn more or become a sponsor.
