HOLLYWOOD—Halloween is finally here. Some of the Halloween festivities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween parties, carving jack-o’-lanterns, visiting haunted attractions, going to Salem, Mass., ghost tours and watching horror films. According to a survey of Halloween costume store owners, the hot-selling costumes include “Jersey Shore,” “Lady Gaga,” “Avatar” and “Iron Man 2.” Snooki is very popular along with Mike “the Situation.” We hear that Snooki, who loves pickles, might dress up as a pickle. According to traditions, Halloween costumes are molded after ghosts, witches, devils and skeletons. Over the years, the costume selection extended to include celebrities and characters from popular films. These costumes are costly though, so you might try to be creative and make your own. Another popular outfit is Candyland based on the popular board game.
Speaking of Candyland, we bumped into the queen of candy, Dylan Lauren, on October 23. Dylan is currently on tour promoting her book titled “Dylan’s Candy Bar: Unwrap Your Sweet Life.” Dylan is the daughter of Ralph Lauren, and shares the style and flair of her famous dad. Dylan who wore a plaid black and white mini skirt, black knee-high boots and a turquoise jacket with matching, turquoise, dangly earrings took the time to answer a few questions:
Q: Are you planning on opening a store in Los Angeles?
A: “Yes, actually,” and then turned to her assistant Maggie and said, “Did you hear that?”
Q: Where in Los Angeles?
A: “Los Angeles is definitely in the works,” she hesitated.
Q: Is it top secret?
A: “Yes, top secret until we sign on the dotted line.”
With the opening of the new “Dylan’s Candy Bar” in Los Angeles, this will make it the sixth store. The one in New York City is the biggest so far with three floor levels. The first level has a chocolate fountain, while the third level has ice cream and cupcakes for sweet indulgences. The store has a celebrity wall of fame, which features celebrities such as Richard Gere, filmmaker Steven Spielberg, reality star Kim Kardashian, the Olsen twins, actress Dakota Fanning, Buddy Valastro and Taylor Swift to name a few that have walked in the store to purchase their favorite candies.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift is also promoting her new CD titled “Speak Now” released on October 25. Taylor uses her sweet innocence in her lyrics to get revenge on former paramours and of course the VMA escapade with Kanye West. She even throws a punch at John Mayer, in the withering song “Dear John.” Rumors are sparking that she and Jake Gyllenhaal are an item. According to Life & Style, they were spotted strolling in Park Slope in New York City, and even flirting with each other backstage at “SNL.” Jake is available since he split up with Reese Witherspoon last November. Swift, on the other hand, has dated teenage idol Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and John Mayer. Taylor Swift is headed for the love boat, actually, “Allure of the Seas.” The cruise liner Royal Caribbean has booked Taylor Swift for January 16, 2011. She will sing in the open-air Aqua Theater while the ship is docked in Cozumel, Mexico on January 21, 2011.
