MALIBU—Two hikers were airlifted by firefighters on Saturday, June 29 at around 2:12 p.m. The pair were rescued near Escondido Falls which is a popular waterfall with a hiking trail in the Santa Monica Mountains.

An air squad request was made at 2:08 p.m. for 27200 Winding Way East and helicopter 18 responded. The hikers were found at the top of the waterfall and needed assistance. No reports of injuries were made at that time.

Helicopter 18 airlifted the two hikers and transported them to the Zuma Beach Lifeguard Headquarters.
