HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Daniel Samuel Jones, 34, was sentenced on Thursday, November 8 to seven years in state prison for the stabbing of two people on Hollywood Boulevard last year.

In a press release, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated that on November 22, 2017, Jones stabbed a woman at random in the arm with a screwdriver as she was on the sidewalk near Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. After attacking the woman, he was accused of entering a hotel nearby and assaulting two of the employees with a knife. Jones left the hotel and stabbed a man in the back with a knife who was walking on the sidewalk.

Jones pleaded no contest to the two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and admitted to an allegation of causing great bodily injury in a negotiated plea agreement, as stated by Deputy District Attorney Catherine Mariano. Jones was immediately sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Renee Korn.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division. Jones who is a transient, could have faced 17 years in state prison if convicted as charged.
