HOLLYWOOD —There are many reasons why people cheat. Boredom, the need for a “secret life,” mid life-crisis, or a way of just escaping intimacy. Truth be told, men can be also intimidated by the success of a woman. If you’re a celebrity, the media will drag it out, and you will read about the infidelities in every gossip magazine and newspaper around the globe. While the reasons behind cheating can be just physical, sometimes they are often more complex. Just last week, I mentioned the disappointing news of Kate Winslet, and now America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock. It’s no wonder everyone is talking about the Oscar love curse. Let’s look back at the women who won the Academy Award for Best Actress, then broke up with their boyfriend or husband, just months or days later, even thanking them from the award show stage.
Only 10 days after bringing home her first gold Oscar, 2010 winner Sandra Bullock canceled her London premiere appearance after rumors began swirling about her husband’s alleged affair with Michelle McGee a tattoo-encrusted part-time hairdresser. The 2009 winner Kate Winslet announced that she and hubby director Sam Mendes had separated. Both the 2008 and 2007 winners Helen Mirren and Marion Cotilard escaped the heartbreak. The 2006 winner, Reese Witherspoon, filed for divorce from husband Ryan Phillippe. After eight years of marriage and two Academy Awards later, the 2005 Oscar winner Hilary Swank and hubby Chad Lowe divorced, one year after she won. The beautiful Charlize Theron who won in 2004, landed an Oscar, while she had been with love interest Stuart Townsend, which is history now. Back in 2003, the Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, who was recently divorced from Tom Cruise won the gold for Best Actress. The 2002 Oscar winner Halle Berry split with her hubby Eric Benet a year after taking home the gold. Coincidence or curse?
So will Sandra Bullock file for divorce or forgive? It’s really hard to forgive someone who you really trusted. It takes a real strong personality. The old saying is, once a cheater always a cheater. Jesse James also faces more problems with his ex-wife, adult film actress Janine Lindemulder. According to reports, Lindemulder is seeking custody of their 6-year-old daughter Sunny, at a June 14 court hearing.
While some may be cursed others are having an abundance of blessings. Teen star Miley Cyrus is truly blessed. The gorgeous 17-year-old is currently hitting the talk shows, plugging her new movie, “The Last Song.” Miley Cyrus will be playing Veronica Miller hitting the theaters on March 31. The movie is based on the best-selling book of the same title by Nicolas Sparks. Sparks easy writing style is superb, allowing the reader to fall in love with the characters. The story was amazing, and reminds you of how important a father’s love is to a young woman. The book is so touching, that there were tears in my eyes. Miley Cyrus was also seen on “American Idol” this past week mentoring the contestants.
Speaking of “Idol,” the teasing and tension between the two judges Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi has been simmering for a while now. A few weeks ago he interrupted Kara as she complained about Andrew Garcia’s performance during the Rolling Stones week. “What was he supposed to do?” Cowell asked. “You want him to come on stage with a tank or something?” What is “American Idol” without Simon? Will the numbers drop next season?
