HOLLYWOOD HILLS-”The suspect of a shooting that lead to an LAPD officer being wounded was identified on March 26.

Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Canyon News the identity of Michael Valentino of Los Angeles. He was 27-years-old.

The incident began on March 24 when two LAPD officers responded to a domestic violence call around 8:30 a.m. in the 8100 block of Gould Avenue. Valentino opened fire on the officers, injuring one with a graze to the face. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai, where she was said to be in good health by Captain Cory Palka of the LAPD Hollywood Division.

SWAT officers moved into the residence and found Valentino dead. Mr. Harvey noted that his cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, though the LAPD has yet to confirm if Valentino was killed by a self-inflicted wound or one caused by police officers.

Chief of Police Charlie Beck noted in a tweet from March 24 that the female officer was in good condition despite her injuries. “Thankfully, she is doing well,” he said. “Please keep her and our officers in your thoughts and prayers.”
