BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland, Tanna Frederick steps into the shoes of Sarah Jessica Parker, or at least a role that Parker made famous on Broadway. Also, this week Justin Bieber’s fans became threatening, Taylor and Jake reportedly split, Meg Ryan seems to have found a guy to date, Sandra Bullock made news, legendary sex symbol Anne Francis passed on and lots of other news in Tinseltown.

My “Queen of the Lot” costar Tanna Frederick called me very excited a few days ago about a new role she’s about to debut. Tanna will play a dog in A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia” at the Sierra Madre Playhouse. The beautiful star is still riding high on the release of her film, and she’s excited to be stepping into the role famously played on Broadway by Sarah Jessica Parker. “It’s very exciting and scary at the same time. I was so happy to step in for the actress who was previously set to play the role, but she became unable to continue,” said Frederick. “Please keep your paws crossed, I hope it’s a success.”

Tanna’s most recent stage role as Panda in Henry Jaglom’s “Just 45 Minutes From Broadway” was so successful, that the play’s original 90-day run lasted over nine months. It has also been made into a film, which stars Judd Nelson, Diane Salinger and David Proval. It will be released at a later date by the Rainbow Film Company.

“Sylvia” is written by A. R. Gurney and directed by Gita Donovan. It opens on Friday, January 14, and runs through February 19 at the Sierra Madre Playhouse in Pasadena. Ticket information can be obtained by going to the official website at sierramadreplayhouse.org.

Friends of Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift tell a popular entertainment magazine that the couple has quietly split, after famously dating for the past two months. No word on the reason for the split, but both have hot careers, which certainly can interfere with romance. Meg Ryan is dating John Mellencamp. Sandra Bullock spent New Year’s Eve with actor Ryan Reynolds, but they both claim it’s only a friendship. While “Hot in Cleveland” star Valerie Bertinelli married longtime boyfriend Tom Vitale in a private ceremony in Malibu last weekend.

Word has it that “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Camille Grammer will not be returning to the show’s second season after some tumultuous and dramatic confrontations with costars on the hit Bravo series. “She has not made any decision yet about whether she’s returning to the show or not,” said Grammer’s publicist, Howard Bragman, in a statement to People magazine. “She taped a very explosive reunion episode yesterday, where people are going to see a different side of her than they’ve seen before.”

This says to me, Camille will return to even higher ratings for the second season’s premiere.

Good luck to actor David Arquette who entered rehab this week for an undisclosed treatment and to actress Lindsay Lohan who was released from the Betty Ford Clinic. Also, Justin Bieber’s female fans have been allegedly making threats via Twitter and Facebook against his girlfriend Selena Gomez. My suggestion to Selena is to get one of my friend Steve’s Family Dobermans and for these overzealous fans’ parents to take away their laptops and iPhones.

I had the honor of knowing actress Anne Francis, who died last Sunday at her home in Santa Barbara. Anne was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007, but battled it with gusto for as long as she possibly could. Known best for the 1956 sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet,” in which she starred opposite Leslie Nielsen and Walter Pidgeon. She also was popular in the 1960s television series “Honey West,” the part for which Anne earned a Golden Globe® Award. My mutual friends Peter Ford, the son of Glenn Ford and MGM queen Eleanor Powell, and Clint Walker, who she starred with in the western “More Dead Than Alive,” both always spoke so highly of Anne. She loved her family and her fans. She was a lot more than a sex symbol and actress, she was a great person.

Have a great week, and see you next week! XOXO
