SANTA MONICA—This week actress Tanna Frederick prepares for the Iowa Film Festival, which she founded after she shook the sand out of her hair, left over from her own charity project Save Our Surf event last week, which was very successful. Calling in heavy reinforcements Tanna had friends from P.T. Townend, the famed international surfer, to movie and TV stars like Sam Trammell, Tate Donovan and “Mad Men” star John Slattery to raise funds and awareness to help clean up our nation’s waterways and oceans. With the disaster on the Gulf Coast still going on, Tanna fights tirelessly for our environment.

However, one thing Tanna does without a lot of hype is perform as an actress. The Midwestern beauty who is reminiscent of the legendary Columbia film star Rita Hayworth is preparing to blow away the competition once again come Oscar season. She may have been ignored by Academy members for her spectacular performance in 2009’s “Irene In Time,” a film by the great Henry Jaglom, but she won’t be ignored when they see her incomparable performance this fall in Jaglom’s “Queen of the Lot.” Frederick and another young Hollywood actress named Anna Paquin have a lot in common. They have talent, beauty and are white hot currently in Hollywood.

The two are enormously talented thespians who ignore their critics and are building huge fan bases, one for independent film work and the other for the HBO hit vampire drama “True Blood.” Paquin portrays Sookie Stackhouse, whom the show revolves around. That is for good reason. The Oscar-winning actress has captured the hearts and souls of millions of viewers who call themselves “Truebies.” While Tanna’s legion of fans call themselves “Tanna-mites.” It’s probably because the leggy redhead and blonde bombshell are dynamite on film.

In “Queen of the Lot” Frederick plays opposite film and TV star Noah Wyle, who is as charismatic and unforgettable in this film as he was on NBC’s “ER.” Frederick and Paquin embody what Hollywood stardom is all about. Though beautiful and striking, they take their vocation as actors very seriously. Anna is astonishing this season (Three) of the hit show “True Blood” and Frederick will steal the big screen once again from all of her predecessors this year, who have films coming out in the next two months. Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts should not worry about Sandra Bullock or Jennifer Aniston. They’d better watch their backs for two women who know how to pull in the viewers and never turn them loose until the credits run. These two women are Anna Paquin and Tanna Frederick.
