SANTA MONICA—Officials from the Santa Monica Police Department received a report at 1:30 a.m. of a homeless man falling down the bluffs area on Tuesday, April 16, near 270 Palisades Beach Road.

At around 2:46 a.m., the Santa Monica Fire Department responded to the report and arrived at the location. The victim was trapped about 100 feet down from the edge of the bluff.

He was located and rescued using specialized equipment. The mission was a high-angle technical rescue that included four engine companies, 40 firefighters, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 6, Truck 1, Rescue 1, RA-2, USAR-2, Battalion 1.

The homeless man was successfully extricated and is now at a local hospital being treated for minor injuries. Officials have not noted what led to the man falling or released his name to the public.
