MALIBU—The Malibu City Council has declared the week of January 20 Homeless Count Week 2019 which will take place on Tuesday, January 22, Wednesday, January 23, and Thursday, January 24. According to the city of Malibu website, the Malibu City Council made the decision on during its council meeting on January 14.

During the event, volunteers will partner with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) to conduct the annual street count enumeration of the County’s homeless population. There was a reduction of homeless from 2017 to 2018, but nearly 52,765 individuals encountered homelessness in Los Angeles County, with 155 of those individuals from the city of Malibu.

Volunteers are wanted to conduct the count activities in the region. Community members interested in participating in the 2019 Homeless Count can find more details or register on the count website at http://TheyCountWillYou.org.
