UNITED STATES—Change is good, at least that is what we’re told time and time again, but when it comes to the NEWS I don’t like change that much. For years I have been an avid fan of the local FOX station in my region. Since I was in high school, this has been the one news station I have watched religiously, and I mean that with the utmost respect. It’s just something about the personalities and the aura these people bring that makes the news a delight to watch.

Yes, that is a hard word to say considering we hear more bad news than good news. However, this local TV station finds a way to carve out about 2 hours each day during the week to deliver laughs and plenty of fun. I just learned this week, two of the familiar faces on this morning talk show of sorts, are leaving the station. I was stunned, lost, confused, like what the hell is seriously going on people? Well apparently, the bomb was dropped about two months ago, but I likely missed that dealing with personal issues of my own that caused a bit of a diversion for me.

I mean Jason Carr and Lee Thomas are the glue that has kept ‘The Nine’ one of the best things on television in my opinion. I could have literally had the worst day ever the day before or perhaps that morning didn’t get off to the best start, watching this series and these personalities would deliver a complete 360 for me. It was so difficult to watch these two maintain their composure knowing that their final hours with a station that they’ve been with nearly 10 plus years were coming to an end!

I mean many of us have experienced that emotion that comes with leaving a job or perhaps being fired or let go from a job. If you’re leaving a job that you weren’t that fond of, you’re on cloud nine during your final hours at the company. However, if it’s a job that you absolutely adore, and you’re receiving the pink slip because of budget cuts or some other reasoning that hasn’t been explained that is a tough pill to swallow.

At times tears were quite evident on other co-hosts who have worked with the talent over the years. Yes, this is a show that has seen a few changes in recent years. I remember when one of the original members left, I was stunned. I told myself I would no longer watch, it took a moment and I’ve gotten use to one of the new faces, but I have to admit seeing these two who have stellar energy, great comedic timing get the boot is a tough pill to swallow.

I’m not even sure if I’ll still watch the show, well I probably will, but I can be honest it will NOT be the same without these two gentlemen. They’ve become a part of my mornings, the laughter, the tears, the fun, something will be missing. I’m actually quite eager to find out who the replacements here will be. Out of all the other personalities on the station, I just can’t see too many meshing well, not to mention the chemistry/dynamics will indeed be gone for a while. It’s easy to find a replacement in the TV world, but it’s not easy to find a replacement that TV viewers love and adore.

I was just reading some of the comments on social media and viewers are outraged, saddened and have made it clear that with these two leaving the station, they’ll be switching to another local TV station to get their news. I’ll be honest, none of the other local TV stations can compete with this station; the personalities blow the others out of the water in some MANY ways.

That is my biggest fear. Viewership for this station might take a significant plummet because of these losses and that can impact the others at the station even more. What does that mean? More cuts and fresh faces as replacements? It might work, it might not work, but it all depends on rather viewers are willing to return. Change can be good, but right now I am quite adamant of the changes that have occurred in the past week. My favorite news station is in chaos, and I have no idea how to recover from that right now.
