HOLLYWOOD—Halloween is indeed upon us and it looks like audiences were looking for a great scare this week. The eighth installment, yes, you heard me correctly, eighth installment in the “Saw” franchise, “Jigsaw” scared the box-office with a haul of $16.3 million. Not the most impressive for a horror franchise that was once synonymous with all this Halloween. It might be safe to say, audiences are over Jigsaw, his intricate kills and the excessive torture porn the franchise became known for.

Nabbing second place was the sequel “Boo 2!: A Madea Halloween” adding $10 million to its tally to bring its domestic gross to over $40 million. The disaster film “Geostrom” earned third place with $5.7 million, but it’s safe to say that flick is a major bomb considering its production cost and box-office performance. Audiences were still looking for scares as “Happy Death Day” landed in fourth place with $4.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was “Blade Runner 2049” with $4 million, bringing the sequel’s domestic haul to just over $80 million. Numbers haven’t been huge at the box-office since “It” arrived in theaters in September, however, November might change all of that as “Thor: Ragnorak” is predicted to bring in over $100 million during its opening weekend. I mean the flick already brought in over $107 million overseas, so imagine the surprise if it does less than that in America?!
