HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On November 8, Kenneth Mack, 29, was sentenced for 240 years to life in state prison on for raping a German tourist in Hollywood, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office revealed.

Mack was convicted earlier this year of two counts of forcible rape in concert with co-defendant Otis Barway, 25. Barway was found guilty of one count of forcible rape. Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson of the Sex Crimes Division prosecuted Case BA452571. The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

On December 5, 2016 Mack and Barway met the victim and lured her to an isolated rooftop in Hollywood. Mack knocked the German woman to the ground and both men proceeded to rape her. DNA evidence was used to find and identify both suspects in the case.

Mack was convicted by jurors for a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon. and Barway was convicted of one count of misdemeanor assault with an unrelated nonsexual attack on November 30, 2016.

Barway was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison in July 2018. Mack was additionally convicted of second-degree robbery for an incident that occurred on November 26, 2016. He also faces conviction for rape and second-degree robbery for an assault in July 2016.

The Los Angeles Police Department released a report that lists the number of rapes in Hollywood for 2018 as 22.4 percent lower than the 147 rapes that transpired in 2017. One-hundred and 26 rape cases were reported in 2016 in the Hollywood region. As of November 3, 2018, there have been 114 cases of rape reported.
