NEW YORK—The Los Angeles Lakers have drafted Small Forward Brandon Ingram from Duke, with the second overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday, June 23.

The 6 foot and 9 inch tall swingman was chosen for his height, his ball handling ability and his massive wing span. He is set to join a young dynamic roster which Laker fans have high hopes in this post Kobe Bryant era.

As NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced his name, he strutted to the podium wearing an eye catching rattle snake-skin effect jacket, and a silver chain in place of a tie.

Many fans tune into to see the fashion statements made by these young draftees, Ingram stole the show in respect to this regard.

“I’m just very excited to be in the Laker franchise, and just try to go in and impact the game in a different way and be the hardest worker on the floor,” said Ingram.

The former Duke Blue Devil averaged 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and an excellent 42 percent 3pt. field goal percentage. Ingram’s 3-point shooting will certainly be welcomed by the Lakers, since they were dead last in the NBA in that category last season.

The 18-year old has undoubtedly drawn comparisons to Kevin Durant, another “one and done.”

This seems like dawning of a new era for the Lakers. With new coach Luke Walton at the helm, and a solid cast of young talented players, a return to past glory feels imminent.
