HOLLYWOOD—The Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide Division is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect who was involved in an attempted sexual assault of an 80-year-old woman on Saturday, June 18.

According to the LAPD blog, the incident happened during the early morning hours on Saturday, when the suspect entered the victim’s apartment building located at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar Avenue. The suspect used the elevator to get to the upper floors of the building and knocked on the apartment door of the elderly woman. After opening the door, the suspect forced his way into the apartment and attempted to sexually assault the victim. In the process, he severely beat her before fleeing the scene of the crime.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment. Detectives from the Robbery Homicide Division arrived on the scene and began conducting their investigation.

Authorities are describing the suspect as an African-American male with black hair, brown eyes and standing 6 feet tall. He weighs 220 pounds and is between the ages of 25-30 years old. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with “PENN STATE” with white letters on the front. He was also wearing black baggie jeans and black shoes.
