LOS FELIZ —LAPD officers from the Northeast Division are continuing their efforts to end recent acts of lewd conduct that have been occurring in the northeast area of Los Angeles.

More than 90 arrests were made from the Los Angeles Department’s Northeast Division, as sexual encounters have continued to take place on public grounds including Elysian Park, Griffith Park and Sycamore Grove Park, and while many people have been arrested for lewd acts, authorities said that the problem has not yet been completely resolved.

According to the LAPD, “Another matter is the appearance that many of those arrested are engaged in unsafe sexual practices, which increase the risk of spreading sexually transmitted diseases. Many participants have been arrested frequently for the same activity and claim to be married and heterosexual.” Public sexual activity has been ongoing for several years, but the concern of the LAPD is the recent trend in which participants are subjected to both robbery and assault from local gang members.

The LAPD said that numerous complaints from unidentified people who use the public parks for jogging, picnics and other outside activities have been highly considered in their investigation.

As the LAPD continues their work in stopping these crimes, their hope is that increased and continued investigating will help them create a plan in eliminating public sexual acts for good.
