SANTA MONICA—The Las Virgenes Municipal Water District worked to fix a large sinkhole on Sunday March 10 in the Santa Monica Mountains. The cause of the sinkhole was a water main break of a 14-inch pipe near Stunt Road and Mullholland Highway. A brief loss in services transpired, but there were no reports of any injuries.

This is not the first time a sinkhole opened near the Santa Monica Mountains. Back in February, a sinkhole formed on Yerba Buena Road North of Yellow Hill in the Ventura County area. An excavator and its operator Gilbert Beltran were almost swallowed by the sinkhole.

The sinkhole that formed a month ago was caused by a plumbing issue. The February sinkhole was caused by a pipe that split in two.
