HOLLYWOOD—This week’s Leading Ladies Gold Standard goes to three dynamic and beautiful actresses who portray heroines on “Y&R” and B&B,” who also faced surprises this week like none they had ever experienced. Heather Tom, who portrays Katie Logan Spencer on “The Bold and the Beautiful”; Hunter Tylo, who portrays Taylor Hayes also on “B&B”; and Eileen Davidson, who portrays Ashley Abbott on “The Young and the Restless” made perfect choices in their highly dramatic and revealing scenes this week, and made our list of daytime’s best performers.
It takes a special kind of actress to play scenes where she is the person receiving the revelation of news, instead of being the one who reveals it. This week Heather Tom’s character Katie Logan Spencer learned from her husband Bill that he was allowing their nemesis Amber Moore to live in the Malibu Colony mansion that he purchased for his wife Katie as their dream home. Katie was confused about her husband’s intentions, but remained loyal to him, even though others warned her that Bill has an ulterior motive for his recent behavior. Tom is an Emmy-winning actress for good reason. This week the beautiful brunette played the unsuspecting wife of a conniving husband to absolute perfection.
Taylor, played by Hunter Tylo, learned from her daughter Steffy that she was determined to get Bill Spencer as her new man. The problem is that Bill is married, and Taylor having had to battle Brooke Logan for decades over every man she’s ever wanted warned her daughter not to become the temptress like Brooke, and not to set her sights on a man who is married. Tylo’s ability to play the moral and outraged Taylor was in full-force this week. The woman (Hunter Tylo) known as one of the most beautiful women in the world is also one of the most talented.
Eileen Davidson is known as a solid actress, who knows her craft when it comes to being a key player in CBS’s “Y&R.” She’s one of the reasons the show remains the number-one rated daytime drama. This week Eileen’s character Ashley Abbott learned that her brother Jack used her daughter Abby to try to destroy Abby’s stepfather Victor Newman. A heartbroken Ashley then found out from her brother Jack that it was her fiancé Tucker McCall, who orchestrated the entire plot. Davidson played anger, rage, pain and ultimately shock in virtually a meteoric-like fashion. She’s a bigger than life actress on a show that is unstoppable as a daytime drama series.
