HOLLYWOOD —This week’s leading ladies gold standard goes to Katherine Kelly Lang, who portrays Brooke Logan Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful”; Eileen Davidson, who portrays Ashley Abbott on “The Young and the Restless”; and gorgeous Hunter Tylo, who portrays Taylor Hayes Forrester also on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” These three women all seemed to be on the edge of something exciting about to happen.
For Taylor, finally it’s a good thing. Love and happiness are in her future. For Ashley the end of joy seems near. She finally is about to realize Faith is not her baby, but Sharon’s baby. When it comes to Brooke, she spent decades fighting Queen Stephanie only to prepare to battle Stephanie’s namesake and Brooke’s demonic stepdaughter Steffy. Brooke is between a rock and a hard place like no other soap heroine.
Years of being slapped by Stephanie Forrester, called a slut, a whore, the tramp from the San Fernando Valley only seemed to make Brooke stronger. She was always at her best when she was battling her perennial mother-in-law. Stephanie and Brooke’s battles became epic forces that fans seem to love and anticipate. Bradley P. Bell has made all of his characters so amazingly multi-dimensional that you simply don’t know what one is going to do from one day to another. Brooke this week faced off against Steffy with the same vigor and strength she often used on Steffy’s grandmother Stephanie. Steffy has been plotting against the Logan women for months now and Brooke has had just about enough of it. She warned Steffy this week and it sent chills down my spine. Brooke has a lot of weaknesses but being a doormat is not one of them. Who knows what we have in store for us as viewers? We know Brooke’s not going to let Steffy continue to take pot shots at the Logan family and we know Steffy being like her grandmother will never back down. This battle is poised to become as exciting as the previous “B&B” battles among the women of Los Angeles. Katherine Kelly Lang is giving it her all, once again.
Ashley Abbott has been teetering on the edge of insanity for over a year now with Adam’s treachery out and Ashley now in possession of the knowledge and proof that her stepson was repeatedly gas lighting her for months last year. Ashley has to also face the ultimate heartbreak of her lifetime. She is starting to remember the loss of her baby on that dark stormy night in Genoa City and she is starting to realize that her daughter Faith may not be hers after all. She belongs to Sharon Abbott instead. Ashley’s escape this week from the family that was searching for their daughter was sad. However, the scenes Eileen Davidson and Stephen Nichols as Tucker McCall had in the airport where Ashley was about to leave with the baby made for great storytelling. Maria Arena Bell and her writing team surprised us with that duo. Eileen Davidson who is one of the most remarkable actresses in Hollywood is doing a tour de force performance on a daily basis on “Y&R.”
While Hunter Tylo’s Taylor is perhaps the most unlucky woman on the planet when it comes to love. Choosing Whip Jones, played by the multi-Emmy winner Rick Hearst has been a great choice for the beauty. Hunter Tylo’s strong dramatic performances are only eclipsed by her charismatic love scenes with Hearst. It’s great to see Taylor happy for a change. Brad Bell is giving Taylor her time to be with the man she loves and we viewers are loving it.
Katherine Kelly Lang, Hunter Tylo and Eileen Davidson are brilliant women who are outstanding actresses and “Y&R” and “B&B” are indeed number one and two in the ratings for good reason.
