HOLLYWOOD—In 2009, I predicted Bradley P. Bell and “The Bold and the Beautiful” would win Best Drama Series, and I was right. Again in 2010 I made the same prediction, and was proved right yet again. This is in no small part to one of the most magnificently talented writers in television history. Along with the writing is the fact that some of Hollywood’s most handsome and talented leading men join Bell in his great show, and last week it was actor Zack Conroy, who played a heartbroken Oliver, who begged his former girlfriend Hope to take him back, after he slept with her mother. Taking one look at Zack, there is no way any young lady would say, “go away,” but taking the character at face value, fans were left with an incredibly intense and poignant performance by the Emmy-nominated young star. Last week Zack brought his charismatic and hunk status to a whole new level for viewers of the show. We now empathize with a character who did the unforgivable and unthinkable.

Being a fan of Conroy’s, I was initially agreeing with viewers that he’s a great actor, but there is no way Hope should ever forgive Oliver and her mother Brooke for their adulterous and scandalous liaison during her graduation party. However, after last week’s great scenes I now feel, Hope should forgive Oliver. The reason why is simple. The performance of the actor who portrays the guilt-ridden cheater put him on a whole new theatrical plane in my humble opinion. Zack is playing a guy who is damaged emotionally from his mistake, and not only is his performance spectacular, but he’s managed to grow as an actor and he moves effortlessly with the smooth, fast-paced style of writing, that Bradley Bell has become brilliant at doing.

There is no way to measure Zack Conroy’s great performance without giving credit to the incredible writing the actor is given for the viewers and fans of “B&B.” Bradley Bell proved to this viewer with the Oliver, Hope and Liam love triangle that he knows just what actors to give a front burner storyline that will end summer 2010 with a bang.

“B&B” airs weekdays on CBS.
