HOLLYWOOD —Daytime television leading men gold standard this week has to go to “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Patrick Duffy, who portrays Stephen Logan, and “The Young and the Restless” star Joshua Morrow, who portrays Nick Newman. Both stars played their roles to perfection this week, with Duffy playing the bad guy and Morrow the good guy, but both showed viewers a level of professionalism that can only be seen on these two soaps on a regular basis. Duffy’s Stephen pushed all the right buttons when it came to drawing Pam into his diabolical plan, while Morrow’s Nick pushed all the wrong buttons when he tried to convince resident psycho Patty Williams to divulge his brother’s secrets.

Patrick Duffy lays down the gauntlet and has proved that he can do a lot more than Bobby Ewing on “Dallas” in a role that has become very dark and devious. Stephen is trying to protect his daughters Brooke, Donna and Katie from the wrath of Stephanie Forrester by using her unhinged and bipolar sister, Pamela, to possibly put a final end to Stephanie’s meddling of his family. Stephen crossed paths with Mike Guthrie this week, an old friend and confidant of the demonic Sheila Carter. Stephen purchased a gun from Mike and convinced him that he had good reason for using the gun on the queen of mean and he used Pam to further his plan.

Pamela’s joy that a man is now living under her roof is so much fun to watch. Pamela’s never had a man of her own and Stephen is very handsome and charming. What the lady doesn’t know is that she’s a part of his plan to get rid of her sister Stephanie and she’s being taken advantage of by a man she’s falling in love with. Seeing Patrick Duffy in this dramatic turn in the storyline offer this level of excellence is exciting. “B&B” had multiple storylines going on this week, but Duffy’s storyline was surely just as exciting as the others.

Joshua Morrow plays a standup guy who is looking at a long prison sentence. The Newmans figured out last week that Adam Newman is most probably still alive and faked his own death to set up his older brother Nick for the murder. When Morrow as Nick went to the prison to visit Patty Williams, who is crazier than ever attempted to convince her to tell him the truth, Morrow seemed so genuine in each of the scenes and fans wanted to cry for Nick’s plight. Morrow is sensational every day on the daytime drama and he’s become one of the most exciting stars to watch. Whenever Morrow’s on the screen, like a young Paul Newman, he’s the only star you notice in the scene.

Morrow’s excitement for his current and upcoming storyline is only eclipsed by viewers’ of the daytime drama “Y&R” excitement and anticipation for what is coming up next. Maria Arena Bell has everyone’s attention with the Who killed Adam? storyline and Bradley P. Bell is the master at making the Logan and Forrester feuds must see TV.

“B&B” and “Y&R” both air weekdays on CBS.
