HOLLYWOOD —This week’s Leading Man Gold Standard goes to Kyle Lowder, an actor who has been greatly missed by viewers and fans of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Lowder portrays the character of Rick Forrester on the soap. Kyle has been spending quality time lately with his beautiful new baby daughter Isabella. Rick has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes at Forrester Creations while his talented and handsome portrayer has been doing the same. This week when Rick’s support and advice were needed by younger sister Hope, who is being tortured emotionally by Rick’s former lover Steffy, Lowder played a more grownup and sensitive Rick than ever before. Like everything he is given to play, it was done with the best dramatic skills of anyone in Hollywood.

Rick was surprised to hear from his teenage sister that she is now falling in love with photographer Oliver. The joy Rick shared with Hope soon turned to concern when he was given the details of Hope’s dilemma. Hope told Rick that his former flame Steffy is interested in her boyfriend Oliver and she asked her brother to help her fight for the man she loves and to help keep Steffy away from Oliver. Rick looked very concerned, he knows that Steffy is a very determined young woman who is not easily swayed from a goal. Kyle Lowder played the scenes with the emotional range only this actor seems to possess. Rick felt empathy as the older brother of Hope, and Lowder managed to pull the emotional range off easily.

Later Rick went to confide in Oliver, that he’d better be very careful dealing with his ex Steffy. Lowder chose to play it with a reined in emotional level that was perfect for the scenes between the two actor. The old Rick would have stormed into Oliver’s apartment and thrown a few things around, maybe a fist or two and demanded he leave Steffy alone and stay away from his baby sister Hope. Rick is now a more complex character and for “B&B” viewers it’s an all new exciting side to a character we all enjoy seeing. We hope to see a lot more of Rick and Kyle this way.

Kyle’s performance this week was as a supporting player on the show. He proved yet again, that he can do it all so easily and make it all seem effortless. Bradley P. Bell the show’s executive producer and head writer knew what points to make in each scene and he entrusted one of Hollywood’s all-time best actors to perform like a professional thespian. It’s great seeing Kyle Lowder on “B&B” again. On behalf of millions of the actor’s fans, thanks Brad!
