SANTA MONICA—A man was pronounced dead after a lethal stabbing that occurred  on 5th Street in Santa Monica.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, officers responded to a homicide call at 1548 5th Street, Apartment 408, Step Up on 5th, at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5. They found a man inside the apartment with a stab wound to his chest.

The Santa Monica Fire Department reported that paramedics were called to the scene at 4:34 a.m. where they subsequently transported an adult male in critical condition to the UCLA Westwood Trauma Center.

After arriving at the emergency room, efforts were made to revive the victim. As reported by the Santa Monica Mirror, the victim was pronounced dead approximately one hour after arriving at the hospital, the Santa Monica Fire Department noted.

According to a report from the Santa Monica Police Department, Guillermo Guerrero, a 40-year-old apartment resident was arrested and booked in connection to the fatal stabbing.
