BEVERLY HILLS—Residents can waive their library fees by bringing in food during a period of one week starting on April 21.

In honor of National Library Week, the Beverly Hills Public Library will hold its annual “Food for Fines” program, according to a press release from the city. Residents are encouraged to bring non-perishable food in the place of library fines, where the food will then be given to the Westside Food Bank.

“Food-For-Fines is a wonderful opportunity to return overdue books and have library fees waived in exchange for non-perishable food donations,” said Assistant Director of Community Service Nancy Hunt-Coffey. “Whether you have library fines or not, everyone in the community is invited drop-off food donations.”

During the event, adults who bring in food for donations will get $5 waived for every one non-perishable item. Children will have their fines waived regardless of whether or not they have donations to give.

“Food For Fines” will last until April 27 at the Public Library located at 444 North Rexford Drive. For more information about the event and the library itself, residents are encouraged to dial 310-288-2222.
