WEST HOLLYWOOD —Handsome “Y&R” star Thom Bierdz who plays Phillip Chancellor, III on the number-one rated daytime drama will be traveling East again. Earlier this month Thom took his first trip to the nation’s capitol and at the time told Canyon News, “I loved visiting Washington. It’s a city much like many cities in Europe.” This time around Bierdz will be going to NYC. The actor says, “I will be attending a gala for LIGALY (Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth), an organization which was started about 17 years ago specifically serving youth. About two years ago, they added SAGE LI to work with seniors, and the center for the entire community, and named it the LI Services Network. The board president is Andrew Stern and I have never seen a man with such integrity. He is inspiring.”

When asked why he’s being honored at the April 16 event, Thom replied, “Andrew Stern sees me as a role model for LIGALY teens because in 2009 I was the first gay actor ever hired for a daytime contract role.” Adding, “Tommy, I can’t wait to attend.

I have never been to Long Island, and there will be NYC Senators honored as well, and Jennifer Holiday will also be performing her huge hit, ”˜And I am Telling You I’m Not Going.’”

Despite the latest political uproar which has caused some protesters to use racial epithets, Thom believes our nation is becoming more tolerant of others. “I do believe so. I think because the kids today have access to the entire world through their Internet, they see that even if equality is not in their home or school, it is flourishing elsewhere so it gives hope to anyone who is not feeling equal,” stated Thom Bierdz.

Bierdz concludes, “For those in the New York City area on April 16, come to the Long Island Equality Gala. It is a great cause and should be a great time! Come and say hi if you can.” For more info on the event and charity atLIGLBTNETWORK.ORG The invite and info is attached.

Thom’s a very busy man, but catch him this weekend on the radio on Saturday. The author will be interviewed by Burl Barer and Don Woldman on their worldwide True Crime show about his memoirs “Forgiving Troy.” Thom pointed out to Barer and Woldman that he does not want to sensationalize the brutality my mother endured, but I want to talk about how counter-productive killing is, and was.
