LOS FELIZ—The work-in-progress bar dedicated to writer and poet Charles Bukowski located in Los Feliz is near completion. On the bar’s website, it advertises itself as “The Intellectual’s Dive Bar.”

Bukowski was a German-American writer who died at age 74 in 1994. He lived throughout the Los Angeles area while writing several novels, short stories, and poetry collections.

The Bar’s owner Marci Siegel created the concept of the bar in hopes of providing an artistic venue for the community where poetry readings and acoustic performances may take place once the bar opens its doors.

On Monday, October 17, Siegel announced the signing of the bar’s liquor license application, and progress for the bar’s construction is being documented on their Facebook page.

The bar will be located next to Co-Op 28, a boutique also owned by Siegel. The bar is next to a mural with Bukowski, with a quote painted by Nathan Anderson on the outside wall. A book mural will be near the entrance where the bar will be located.
