SANTA MONICA — The Santa Monica Public Library will be hosting ‘Songs of the Season,’ in which the Lyric Chorus will be performing on Thursday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium. The performers will be singing holiday songs as well as Broadway tunes.

The Lyric Chorus is a women’s choral group with over 20 members that began as the Santa Monica Lyric Chorus in the 1940s. It became affiliated with Emeritus College when Santa Monica College started its Emeritus Collegeprogram, and has been directed by Bill Elliot for 27 years. The chorus performs up to six concerts every semester at senior centers in the Santa Monica area, and ‘Songs of the Season’ will be its 15th performance at the Santa Monica Public Library since 2007.

The Lyric Chorus sings three-part harmony and will be accompanied by Gary Nesteruk and Joanne Montgomery on piano. ‘Songs of the Season’ is part of the Library’s ‘Living Room’ ‘A Place for Adults’ series, which is a grant that the Library received to host events that appeal to older adults. The Santa Monica Public Library is located 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
