HOLLYWOOD—For those fans of the stripper tale “Magic Mike,” they will be thrilled with the news that the cast for the sequel, “Magic Mike XXL” has been unveiled. Channing Tatum who served as a producer on the first film returns for the sequel in a starring role, also as a producer and writer.
Also returning for the sequel is Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez and Kevin Nash. New to the cast includes Gabriel Iglesias, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard, Donald Glover, Elizabeth Banks and Michael Strahan.
The film which is being released by Warner Brothers released a synopsis of the upcoming sequel which takes place three years after the first film. The Kings of Tampa are preparing to end their careers as well, but have plans to go out on top in Myrtle Beach. ‘Magic Mike’ will be joining them in their last hoorah, as they travel from Jacksonville to Savannah and their final destination reuniting with old pals and making new acquaintances as well.
Gregory Jacobs is taking over directorial duties from Steven Soderbergh who will still act as a producer and editor on the project. “Magic Mike XXL” will arrive in theaters on July 1, 2015.
