HOLLYWOOD—May sweeps are over, but “ General Hospital” ended the month with some explosive bangs. I’ve told people in the past, the best episodes to catch on a soap are Mondays and Fridays, where cliffhangers take place or the answers to those cliffhangers are solved.
Last week, “GH” took a twist a delivered a bevy of surprises to audiences on Thursday where Sonny (Maurice Benard) dropped a bomb on Ava (Maura West) that he was well aware of her duplicity; that she murdered his lover Connie. Whew, the acting between Benard and West were beyond Emmy worthy. Just when the audience was almost certain Ava would meet an untimely death, she dropped a whopper on her enemy; she’s preggers.
Audiences probably saw that twist coming a mile a minute, but the bigger question is rather the baby daddy is Sonny or his son, Morgan. I almost feel as if Ava will suffer a death similar to Sonny’s former flame Claudia. With the cat out of the bag, what will the Port Charles Police Department do to ensure justice is served? Or will Sonny, Franco (Roger Howarth) and Carly (Laura Wright) be forced to keep Ava’s secret? This will only culminate in tension that will drive residents bonkers.
Nearly a month ago, audiences were given the biggest tease of all time when, Silas’ (Michael Easton) not so dead wife, Nina was revealed to be very much alive and being portrayed by none other than soap icon Michelle Stafford. On Tuesday, June 3, audiences got to see Nina in action once again and Port Charles is her new home. So how will Sam (Kelly Monaco), Silas and Nathan react to seeing Nina back from the dead?
Well we didn’t have to wait long cause “GH” scribes gave audiences the moment they’d been dying for when Silas and Sam came face-to-face with a not so dead Nina getting acquainted with Danny at his birthday party. I’ll admit it was indeed a suspenseful moment worth the wait, the look on Silas’ face was priceless! Not to mention Sam, who was taken for a loop by the revelation; let’s just see what happens when Jason Morgan makes his return to Port Charles!
Perhaps one of the biggest mystery’s for months is the question of what is transpiring with Luke (Anthony Geary). Many have suspected that Luke had an imposter on the loose, but that confirmation didn’t take place until last week when ‘Fake Luke’ came face-to-face with the real Luke, who was locked inside the mental hospital. While many are hoping for a true revelation to come to light, we are still at a loss for who this imposter is.
Perhaps the biggest clue: he has a hatred for Sonny Corinthos. When it comes to Sonny he has many enemies, but who’s willing to go to such lengths to dispose of PC’s resident mobster? Get those thinking caps on. Perhaps the only person who would truly know what is happening with Luke would be his former flame Laura (Genie Francis). Could a possible return be in the works? Keep those fingers crossed?
Things are definitely heating up. “ General Hospital” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
