MALIBU—The city of Malibu is inviting the public to join the Malibu City Council, Commissioners, fellow community members, business and civic leaders for a celebration of the holidays at Malibu City Hall. The event will include an art show hosted by Malibu Arts Angels featuring pieces by talented student artists, and live performances by student musicians from Malibu Middle and High School. Snacks, hot cocoa and cider will be served.

Participants will be able to have their hand print become part of the Community Art Tree which will be on display as part of Malibu’s Student Art Show in 2018. Those who attend the event on Thursday, December 14 are asked to bring a donation for the Spark of Love Toy Drive to benefit at-risk youth. Those who donate can receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes that have been donated by local businesses.

The Spark of Love event has collected over 8 million toys in the past 25 years. The campaign collects new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties. The campaign runs through Christmas Eve, and the goal is to exceed last 2016’s collection of over 450,000 toys.

The 2017 Toy Request Application for non-profit organizations is now open. The Los Angeles County Fire Department will work to fulfill toy donations requests from eligible organizations with programs that help support the neediest children.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Malibu City Hall located at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road Malibu, CA 90265. For additional questions call 310-456-2489 ext. 283 or email mmyerhoff@malibucity.org. The event is free of charge for all attendees.
