MALIBU—A man suspected of operating a “butane honey oil” or “hash oil” lab in his home was airlifted by helicopter to the hospital after an explosion erupted at his house in Malibu on Tuesday, April 8.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived around 6:15 p.m., according to Twitter, to find the house on the 1200 block of Encinal Canyon Road in flames. Firefighters managed to rescue the 25-year-old man, who sustained burn injuries, the severity of which was not disclosed.

He was transported by helicopter to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, after which he was arrested on drug charges.
