MALIBU—A man in possession of a knife was wounded by officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, following his families call for help from authorities.

On Friday, July 26, a deputy-involved shooting transpired on the 28000 block of Bison Court in Malibu. At approximately 4:45 p.m. officials received the call about a domestic disturbance at the home involving the suspect and his mother.

Authorities returned to the home with an arrest warrant, where the man barricaded himself in his room with kitchen knives. Officials stated the man was Tased for not putting the knives down and lunged towards officers which resulted in the shooting.

The suspect was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. The name of the suspect has not been disclosed to the public.  

KTLA reported that authorities received a call the day before the shooting, where the suspect allegedly struck his mother with a 20 pound dumbbell, but she refused to press charges.
