MALIBU—Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested a woman in an unincorporated Malibu region on Wednesday, August 1.

On Wednesday at around 10:27 p.m., the LASD were called to a home in the 500 block of Westlake Boulevard, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. According to LASD officials, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect has been identified Patricia Farran, 76, who is believed to have shot her 75-year-old husband, Arnold Farran.

After finding the wounded man’s body, LASD officials investigated the crime which led to the arrest of the woman believed to be the victim’s wife. Authorities recovered the murder weapon at the crime scene.

According the LASD alert posted on Nixle, detectives are working on identifying a motive behind the shooting which remains unknown. An LASD representative informed Canyon News that the crime is being handled by the Homicide Bureau and the investigation is still active and ongoing.

Farran was booked at Malibu/Lost Hills Station on Suspicion of Murder, 187(A) PC, and is being held in lieu of $2,000,000.00 bail. Her booking photo will not be released.
