Marcus Peete Sentenced In Assault

HOLLYWOOD—The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office revealed that Marcus Datwione Peete, 35, was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting an 80-year-old woman inside her Hollywood apartment.

According to a press release from the LADA’s Office, Peete pleaded no contest to sexual penetration by an unknown object and admitted the special allegations that the crime was committed during a burglary and he inflicted great bodily injury on the victim.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Leslie A. Swain immediately sentenced Peete and he was ordered a lifetime registration as a sex offender as part of the negotiated plea agreement.

According to court testimony, Peete forced his way into the elderly woman’s home located on the 1700 block of North Ivar Avenue on June 18, 2016. After she opened the front door, he pushed her into a bedroom and began hitting her, as the victim attempted to fight back. He punched her multiple times in the face and sexually assaulted her before leaving the apartment. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries she sustained. He was arrested on June 19, 2016 near Crenshaw and Olympic Boulevards.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division.
