LOS FELIZ—Actor Michael Swan was a good friend to his former co-star, the late Darlene Conley, whose beautiful condo was in a famed building along Los Feliz Boulevard in L.A. Michael starred opposite Conley as her ex husband, Adam, on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful.” He had previously lived in New York, where he became one of the most popular soap leading men as Duncan on CBS’s “As The World Turns.” Fans cried when he left the series, but his distinguished career began long before “ATWT” or “B&B” and has gone on since leaving both roles.

“Acting has always been my main focus. Sure I did consider producing once, but at this time in the business, it’s actually easier for a mature actor to get a role than a mature director or producer. The business has simply changed and those of us over 40 have to be smart and know where we’ll find our next paying gig,” said Swan. Next up is “Camel Spiders,” an action film by Jim Wynorski, which also stars C. Thomas Howell, GiGi Erneta and Brian Krause. His most recent film was SYFY’s “Dinocroc vs. Supergator.” Action is something he still finds challenging and exciting to do on screen.

Michael still works out and takes pride in keeping up his physique, which he knows actors need to do. However, not one to rest on his good looks, Michael’s work as an actor has continued to improve over the past years and critics and fans agree, he’s one of the most bankable leading men in television and films.

Despite playing tough guys, Michael won raves as Adam Alexander on “B&B.” He starred opposite daytime diva and former “The Birds” star Darlene Conley, whom we both shared special memories with. “Darlene was dynamic and special. Certainly old Hollywood, that’s for sure. She had a bigger than life flair about her, but she was deep down a warm and thoughtful person,” lamented Michael.

When pressed about some of the work the prolific actor has done, Michael was very modest. “I am just a lucky actor. I enjoy what I do and I’ve been able to keep doing it for a long time,” said Swan. “And to answer your question. Yes, if I was available and an offer was made, I’d gladly return to do a soap. It was a great experience in the past, and many of my fans have been fans since my soap days. The industry has changed and there are fewer soaps on the air, but they are mostly solid and safe right now. Everything changes, but actors always want to work, so I’d not turn down a good part.”

The handsome star grew up in Hawaii and loved it. However, in the early 1970s Michael returned to his home of California and joined MGM Television as a contract player. He appeared in series such as “The Man From Atlantis” with Patrick Duffy and “Chips” with Erik Estrada. He really enjoyed working with Jack Palance and offers lot of respect and credit for his training to renowned TV and Broadway star David Alexander. “I credit David with a lot of my skill and my success in this business. He has helped a lot of people, as you know,” concluded the actor.
