UNITED STATES—The United Nations is estimating that a migrant caravan of more than seven thousand  individuals are making their way through Mexico to the United States southern border, and that number is rising to swell with another thousand heading for the Guatemala-Mexico border.

“It is a shame that a president so powerful uses this caravan for political ends,” stated Irineo Mujica of People Without Borders, a migrant humanitarian assistance group.

President Trump took to Twitter saying, “I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergency (sic), Must change laws!”  Trump previously argued that other nations should respond by turning this caravan back and use the legal
immigration system as it is established.

“We only want to work and if a job turns up in Mexico, I would do it” said Guatemalan laundry worker Ana Luisa Espana.

The three thousand mile journey has resulted in mechanical injuries. Some Mexican truck drivers are lining up to provide travelers a lift. Mexican authorities are stopping overloaded semi trucks. One person received a serious head injury after falling from the back of an overloaded truck.

“Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our
Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws!” said Trump on Twitter.

“Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally,” Trump added.

The group is a little more than one thousand miles from the nearest border crossing, McAllen, Texas.

As ranked by the World Economic Forum, the United States has the number one economy in the world, for the first time since 2008.
