WEST HOLLYWOOD—A 36-year-old man, Ramon Estrada, was reported missing by family and friends on July 7. The victim was later found at a local hospital on July 14 after authorities recognized the victim when he was fingerprinted less than a week ago.

Family and friends launched a campaign through Facebook, door to door contacts, and issued a press release in regards to Estrada’s whereabouts. His partner, Michael, also filed a missing person report. Canyon News attempted to contact Michael Shutt, but did not hear back before print.

The family checked with authorities about the missing status report and were informed by a detective who had previously fingerprinted Estrada. He indicated that Estrada’s fingers were very swollen.

The family presented the flier of Estrada to the detective and the detective was able to recognize the victim right away. He gave a call to a local hospital where the victim was admitted, but listed under the pseudonym name of “Trauma Echo.” Family members arrived at the hospital and were able to identify the victim.

Estrada was suffering from pneumonia, head trauma and heart problems from aspirating due to an unknown accident or assault. Michael Shutt, Estrada’s partner, started a get well fund on July 15 to assist the family for the extremely high medical bills. Shutt said, “Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated!” from the Gofundme.com site.
