BEVERLY HILLS—Mark and David Mendelson, grandsons of the founders of Nate N Al’s Delicatessen, officially sold the 75 year old Jewish restaurant to Shelli and Irving Azoff. The establishment has been publicly in search of new owners in the past year. In 2018, the Beverly Hills City Council declined to take up a vote on the possibility of landmarking the restaurant which has been located on Beverly Drive since 1945.

According to the official press release, the Mendelson’s had multiple prospective buyers but selected to sell to the Azoffs. They considered them to be the right owners and noted that Azoffs have been customers for 30 years.

Nate N Al’s is not the Azoff’s first restaurant purchase in 2019. The Hollywood Reporter announced in February that they purchased the Apple Pan Diner on Pico Boulevard from the family of Alan and Ellen Baker. The Apple Pan Diner has been around for over 70 years and was previously operated by the children and grandchildren of the Bakers.

A member of the staff at Nate N Al’s declined to comment on any immediate changes the new ownership will have on the restaurant, but they affirmed that they will be moving from the Beverly Drive location to a new home on Canon Drive.
