SANTA MONICA—Nintendo celebrated the launch of Splatoon, a new video game, at the Santa Monica Pier with a massive real-life obstacle course inspired by the game itself on May 15.

Celebrities and kids gathered to compete in the game that was brought to life for the event.

The ink shooting game requires the player to shoot colorful ink at opponents. The characters in the game can swim through the ink to hide from their opponents, increase their speed in the game, and climb up walls.

Model Alli Simpson, “The Best of Me” star James Marsden, “Hunger Games” star Willow Shields, and “Liv and Maddie’s” Joey Bragg were a few of the celebrities in attendance.

Those in attendance were also provided the chance to get hands-on time with Splatoon which launches on Wii U on May 29. Also at the event was Radio Disney.
