LOS ANGELES—On Sunday, November 10, the NKLA announced their success in the rescue and adoption of all their shelter animals in need of home, close to 400 pets in total. The No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) is a project created by the Best Friends Animal Society. It’s the only national organization to provide a sanctuary for pets; to make Los Angeles a no-kill city by 2017. The adoption weekend began on November 9 and was held at the La Brea Tar Pits.
The event had several different tents including a dog adoption tent and a cat and kitten adoption tent. There were other attractions at the event that included food trucks, Ask a Trainer: LAS dog trainer.org, and Ask-a-Vet: Animal Emergency Centre. The event charged soon-to-be pet owners $25 or more to keep a pet that was already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, as well as micro-chipped.
The NKLA thanked all participants for helping them have a successful weekend from their event page on Facebook. The page was filled with new pet owners posting pictures of the new additions to their families.
