SANTA MONICA—Officials from the Santa Monica Fire Department battled an apartment fire on Sunday, November 11. According to a press release Canyon News received from Captain Patrick McNulty of the SFPD, the Fire Department received a call at 4:55 a.m. about a structure fire on the 900 block of 18th Street.

Firefighters arrived in 4 minutes and 31 seconds to a 2-story apartment building with 1 unit on the first floor on fire. A total of 27 firefighters battled the blaze, which was starting to spread to the apartment units on the second floor. The majority of the fire and related damage was confined to the apartment unit where the fire started, with partial damage to the unit above.

There were no reports of any injuries to occupants or first responders during the fire. One occupant was displaced because of the fire. Firefighters were assisted by the Santa Monica Police Department, and McCormick Ambulance. Santa Monica Fire Department investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
