HOLLYWOOD—Matthew Ashford is set to appear on the next webisode of the award nominated Internet series “The Bay” on Thursday, February 3. Ashford has began working on the series both behind and in front of the camera. As a series producer, he’s about to bring a very complicated and anticipated character to the show that also stars Dylan Bruce, Joe Lando, Lane Davies, Lilly Melgar, Tristan Rogers and Mary Beth Evans. The character of Stephen has been mysteriously discussed by characters and is accused of raping Evans’s character Sara Garrett. The groundbreaking storyline is picture perfect for Ashford. “I am excited about the prospects of this storyline. It’s wide open right now. We don’t really know the entire back story, but I expect it to move quite quickly into the season finale,” said the actor.

Ashford loves everything about the series, even down to the fictitious town the show inhabits. “Gregori [Martin] has done a wonderful job creating sets from actual places that exist and when you realize how interesting the town is with the cast of characters, it’s downright brilliant,” said Matthew. “Imagine Hyannis Port or one of those small towns on Cape Cod. The people like here with ”˜The Bay’ live in their own little world, they are truly a big fish in a small pond. They are rich, powerful and many are not well known to people around the world, but their lives can sometimes be just as exciting as the biggest stars in Hollywood.” “The Bay” is my favorite drama series since “B&B,” “Y&R” and “Dynasty.” Gregori’s amazing imagination managed to put together a show that has caused a great interest and stir among fans of soaps and even primetime dramas. Ashford refers to the inhabits of “The Bay” as, “Stepford people. You know the type, Tommy. They live in their own world and everything revolves around a certain circle of people and everyone else has to acclimate to their way of thinking in order to be accepted,” concluded Ashford.

A show that has received as much buzz in its first season much like “The Sopranos” on HBO is about to set viewers and fans up for one of the biggest cliff hangers since “Who Shot J.R. Ewing” on Dallas in the early 1980s. Matthew Ashford is hopefully going to be in the major storyline that will conclude in the coming weeks.

“The Bay” received five nominations from the second annual Indie Soap Awards last weekend. The nominations are for Outstanding Director, Gregori J. Martin; Outstanding Lead Actor, Camden Toy; Best Storyline, “Igor’s Revenge”; Outstanding Ensemble; and Fan’s Choice Award.

This year’s awards show will be a live event in New York City on Friday, February 21, hosted by “Gotham” creator and star, Martha Byrne. Stay tuned for information about the show and tickets in the coming days by going to welovesoaps.net.

Matthew Ashford has just completed “The Unlikely’s,” “Catch of a Lifetime” and “Fuzz Track City.” Part two of this interview will run next week in this paper. “The Bay” can be seen at thebaytheseries.com/.
