BRENTWOOD—The Brentwood Community Council has approved a one acre public park to be a part of Landmark II, a proposed 34-story residential tower located near Wilshire Boulevard and Stoner Avenue.

Originally called the Landmark Apartments, Landmark II is a condominium project by real estate firm Douglass Emmett Inc. In addition to the building, there were plans to make a 4,700-square foot retail building. After hearing feedback from different groups and local associations, the real estate firm redesigned their proposal to best fit the community’s needs and decided to include a one-acre park.

The Brentwood Community Council stated that it encouraged Councilmember Mike Bonin to support its approval of the park because it can be utilized by people of all ages and is in an area that does not have any type of park nearby. The park is planned to be publicly accessible, but privately maintained.

Aside from the park, Landmark II is set to feature 376 apartments, including 16 units for low income households, and will provide housing for an estimated 703 residents. It will be an Energy Star labeled building and provide a private gym for tenants, outdoor pool deck and 24-hour on-site security.

The project is set to take approximately 30 months to construct and is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
