PACOIMA—The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, or suspects, responsible for killing a man.

An unknown individual dropped off the victim who sustained a gunshot wound at the San Fernando Valley Hospital, emergency room on Thursday, May 31 at around 11 a.m. the LAPD reported on their website. The victim was taken into surgery where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Jose Luis Ramirez, 57, of Pacoima.

The doctor who treated Ramirez informed detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide that the victim only sustained one gunshot wound, which led to Ramirez’s death.

Authorities are not certain where the shooting transpired or the identity of the individual who dropped off Ramirez  at the hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are reaching out to the public for information on the case.
