SANTA MONICA—Officials from the Santa Monica Police Department are investigating a train collision that left a man dead on Sunday, November 5.

The SMPD confirmed that on November 5 at approximately 11:00 pm, a man was hit and killed by a Metro Expo Line Train. The incident occurred near 14th Street and Colorado Boulevard. Authorities were called to the location via a radio call for service regarding a traffic collision accident. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed to the public already deceased on the scene.

SMPD’s Major Accident Response Team arrived on the scene and concluded that the victim had been struck by the train headed westbound near the 17th Street Station. The train that continued its route, coming to a stop at the 4th Street Station-Terminus. The conductor was reportedly unaware of the train collision until the train reached the next station, and has been cooperating with authorities.
