HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Philip Patrick Policarpio was sentenced on Friday, September 21 to 75 years to life in state prison for murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Laura Olguin, 32, in 2016. Policarpio pleaded no contest in August to one count each of first-degree murder and first-degree murder of a fetus as well as admitting a gun allegation.

According to the press release from the District Attorney’s office, the crime occurred on April 12, 2016. The victim, Olguin, was at an apartment playing cards at a friend’s partment when Policarpio arrived and the two got into an argument. Policarpio struck Olguin before retrieving a gun, pointing it at the victim’s head and pulling the trigger. Olguin was 17 weeks pregnant when she was murdered.

He fled the scene after the incident and was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitive list. He was arrested several weeks later at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
