STUDIO CITY—On Tuesday, March 5 around 9:30 a.m. police officers pursued a suspect in a stolen vehicle along the southbound 101 Freeway. The chase began in Studio City and ended in Chinatown.
The stolen vehicle was reported to be a dark-colored minivan. It drove from Studio City into the Hollywood region with a police patrol car close behind it, KTLA5 reported. Ten minutes later, at 9:40 a.m., the vehicle made its way from Echo Park into Chinatown. The van had trouble escaping due to traffic on the freeway causing slower speeds.
The chase ended after an officer performed a PIT maneuver on Sunset Boulevard between Beaudry Avenue and the 110 Freeway. Upon being slowed by the PIT maneuver, the van struck a silver Mercedes and tried to escape, but ended up running into a parked car. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody by police.
