HOLLYWOOD HILLS—The Los Angeles Police Department discovered the burned body of a man laying in a Hollywood Hills street on Friday, December 16.

The body was found at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, when officers responded to reports of gun shots being fired and a man trying to set himself on fire near the 1900 block of Outpost Drive, authorities said.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers discovered a man lying in front of a house – his body engulfed in flames.

A handgun was found beneath the victim’s body noted LAPD officer Jenny Houser. The heat of the flames had caused the gun to “sound off” several rounds of ammunition, Houser said. Several individuals contacted authorities Friday night regarding the gunshots.

Witnesses told KTLA they saw the man limping before he caught on fire. Fire personnel extinguished the flames before the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Houser said. The victim appeared to be between the ages of 30 and 40.

“Evidence suggests this was a suicide,” Houser said.

Authorities have not released further details on the case as it is still under investigation. TMZ reported the victim was found near the home of “iCarly” and Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove.
